Our history
2003
The history of the Miskolc location starts as part of the Bosch group in the so-called "Hall Nr. 2". Belonging to the SG (starter motor & generator) division, we look back on a 100-year history. Already back then, we had our own small Development Center – nowadays, our development team has grown to over 100 engineers.
2005
As a big milestone the 1.000.000th starter motor is produced.
2010
The product portfolio is enlarged and the 1st New Base Line alternator is produced in the Miskolc plant.
2016
Preparations start to turn our division into its own company, which is planned to operate under independent management and with its own facilities.
2018
The former SG division officially turns into SEG Automotive. Our local company is renamed to Starters E-Components Generators Automotive Hungary Kft. (S.E.G.A. Hungary Kft.), but continues production at its previous location.
In parallel, we open our new logistics hall – the largest in the region – in the Szirmabesenyő industrial park.
2019
The 15.000.000th alternator leaves the production line.
2020
In February, the foundation stone of our new production facility is laid in the Szirmabesenyő industrial park, right next to our logistics hall.
75.000.000th starter motor is produced.
2021
In September, our new plant is officially inaugurated and placed on the industrial map of the county with its new address: 3711 Szirmabesenyő, Farkashegyi út 3. At this time, production, development, testing, and all supporting functions are already fully operational in the new location.
2023
This year not only SEG Automotive has its 5th anniversary but the Hungarian plant celebrates its 20th.
Inspired by the values of our global DNA, we put a strong focus on local culture and creating a positive work environment.
Office of the Year
Our brand-new building has been tailored to our needs – which we assessed by involving our local employees. As a great acknowledgement we won the – Office of the Year 2021 – Special Prize and 2nd prize among large enterprises.
Top Employer in Hungary
We are highly proud of our Top Employer Hungary 2022, 5th place gained in the Randstad survey.
